TREP$ Update:
Our Candy Bar Challenge was a huge success! As part of the TREP$ program (sponsored by BTEF), we had 7 groups create their own unique candy bar—from concept to creation. Students designed their wrappers and even presented commercials to showcase their final products.
Throughout the process, we explored market opportunities and identified different types of consumers who might be drawn to each product. Once they determined their target audience, they developed some truly creative ideas:
✨ Cosmic Candy Bar – featuring “moon dust” and intergalactic flavors, with space facts on the wrapper
✨ The Best of Both Worlds – a mix of dark and milk chocolate for those who can’t choose
✨ Pop Bar – packed with Pop Rocks for an adventurous treat
✨ Stretch Bar – a gummy-based bar that can be stretched and molded before eating
✨ Strawberry Crunch – made with freeze-dried strawberries for a more health-conscious option
✨ Sugar Rush – bursting with colors and flavors for kids who want it all
✨ S’more Bar – a twist on the classic with added banana
After the presentations, we discussed which bars appealed more to kids vs. adults, along with which wrappers and commercials were most effective for different audiences.
Amazing creativity and thoughtful marketing skills on display—great job to all involved! 👏

Thanks to the Ed Foundation grant, the club delivered another TerraCycle marker recycling box to Mrs. Fusco and shipped off a full one, keeping even more markers out of landfills!
Members also visited lower elementary classrooms to hand out collection bags and spread the word. Keep an eye out as they continue collecting and adding to the art room box! 💚

8th grade students who completed the project last year had the opportunity to review the projects and vote for their favorites. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Celia, Josie, Angelina, and Evan!
Wonderful work by all—each student did an outstanding job showcasing their understanding and creativity. 👏
