Leave Replacement - Elementary Math and Gifted & Talented (G&T) Teacher

Position Summary

The Elementary Math and Gifted & Talented (G&T) Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, and differentiated instruction to 5th and 6th grade students. This role supports both core mathematics instruction and advanced learning opportunities for identified gifted students, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic growth. The teacher collaborates with colleagues to design enrichment experiences and ensure instructional alignment with district and state standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver high-quality math instruction aligned with state standards for 5th and 6th grade students

  • Design and implement differentiated lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including gifted and advanced students

  • Develop and facilitate enrichment activities that promote higher-order thinking, creativity, and inquiry-based learning

  • Integrate problem-based learning, real-world applications, and technology into math instruction

  • Provide targeted support and challenge to ensure all students demonstrate academic growth

Gifted & Talented Programming

  • Collaborate, plan and deliver Gifted & Talented instruction aligned with district G&T goals and guidelines

  • Identify, support, and monitor the progress of gifted learners

  • Create opportunities for acceleration, enrichment, and interdisciplinary learning

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support differentiation and enrichment strategies

Salary Range -  Salary range: $59,340-$106,118. Actual salary based on years of experience in a similar or the same role and position on the guide.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Health and Physical Education Endorsement or eligibility

  2. Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods  

  3. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment

  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

  5. Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status


REPORTS TO: Principal/Designated Administrator

SUPERVISES: Students as assigned

JOB GOAL: To promote pupils' safety, wellness, health maintenance and physical fitness; provide pupils with an understanding of the relationship of a healthy body to healthy behaviors; and to cultivate knowledge and skills that are conducive to good physical and mental health.      

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops lesson plans and classroom learning activities

  1. Works to achieve state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives by teaching skills in comprehensive health and physical education using curriculum and instructional materials adopted by the board of education.

  2. Works cooperatively with other health and physical education teachers and regular classroom teachers in planning an effective comprehensive school health program. 

  3. Participates in curriculum development activities, faculty meetings and school-level planning.

  4. Sets specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.  

Instruction and pupil contact

  1. Provides health, safety, family life education and/or physical education instruction as assigned.

  2. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils.  Assumes responsibility proper use and storage of physical education equipment.

  3. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment.

  4. Evaluates each pupil's growth in health/physical education related knowledge and skills and maintains records of pupils' progress in class record books and/or board approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes.

  5. Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, behavior and learning problems.

Contact with parents and community

  1. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress. 

  2. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.

Professional contacts and activities

  1. Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through inservice education and other professional growth activities.

Other

  1. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Lunch Aide (Part-Time) 11:00am-1:00pm

The School Lunch Aide supports a safe, positive, and orderly lunch environment for students. This position assists with student supervision during lunch and recess periods and helps ensure students follow school expectations.

  • 2 hours per day (w

    hen school is in session-full school days only)

  • $17–$19 per hour (based on experience)

ParaProfessional (Leave Replacement)

The assignment involves assisting students in general and special education classrooms. Assignment involves performing non-teaching tasks, working with preschool-age/disabled students.

Personnel Care Requirements:

  • Assist with personal hygiene (toileting, tooth brushing, washing hands and face)

  • Assist with breakfast, lunch, and snack

Academic Requirements:

  • Knowledge of child development

  • PreSchool/Multiple Disabilities:  Must be able to assist students one-on-one, reinforcing preschool/life skills curriculum

  • Elementary: Must be able to understand and reinforce basic elementary subjects

Behavioral Management Skills:

  • Demonstrate the ability to treat students respectfully and model behaviors that will earn student respect for you.

  • Understanding of the importance of data collection and collecting data with fidelity and consistency.

  • Be able to follow the behavior management plan consistently.

  • Understand age-appropriate expectations for student behaviors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow student schedules and maintain a student routine.

  • Interact productively with student(s) without disrupting class.

  • Communicate with the special education teacher as well as the general education staff.

  • Develop an understanding of how the general education/special education teacher “runs” his/her classroom and develop skills to support that.

  • Understand role as part of a team; execute the teacher’s expectations within the classroom.

  • Provide support to foster independent classroom functioning without doing the student's work.

Salary : $39,214.00

Custodian Full-Time (Second Shift from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm)

Qualifications:
-Black Seal License
-Minimum 3 years experience
-Knowledge in all areas of custodial maintenance
-Ability to read, write and communicate effectively

-Salary Range - $40,000 - $45,000
