 Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant

Boonton Township Board of Education/Rockaway Valley School seeks an LDTC for the 2025-2026 School Year.  This child study team member will be able to effectively assess pupils' learning characteristics and design appropriate instructional plans in order to enable each pupil to maximize his/her learning potential.   

The successful candidate will:                                   

  •  hold a valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant Endorsement

  •  have extensive knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education; and a demonstrated ability to effectively assess children's learning characteristics,                                    design appropriate instructional strategies and plan educational programs

  •  have strong interpersonal and communication skills             

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in the evaluation, classification and placement of all pupils with special needs.

  2. Assesses academic proficiency and learning characteristics of each pupil referred to the child study team for evaluation and interprets the findings in written reports and informal conferences.

  3. Assists in the development and coordination of an appropriate individualized education program for each pupil requiring special education and/or related services. Participates in the ongoing        assessment of academic achievement and educational placement of classified pupils.

  4. Consults with classroom teachers, administrators and parents regarding special instructional methods and/or materials necessary to meet the specific needs of individual pupils.

  5. Keeps up-to-date in the field of learning disabilities and with current regulations governing the education of pupils with disabilities.

  6. Participates in the development and delivery of inservice programs and parent seminars related to learning disabilities and effective teaching methods.

  7. Works to keep the community informed of the special education program and the role of the learning disability teacher-consultant.

  8. Serves as a case manager as assigned, maintains appropriate case records and reviews goes and objectives of individual education plans.

  9. Maintains professional competence through inservice education and other professional growth activities.

  10. Performs all duties required as a member of the child study team by administrative code, state and federal laws and board policy.

  11. Performs other related duties as assigned by the superintendent/principal or the special services director.

Administrative Assistant to Superintendent/Principal

Boonton Township School District (Rockaway Valley School Elementary) is looking for an individual to provide support to the Chief School Administrator who functions in the dual role of Superintendent and Principal in this 1-builing, PreK-8 district in Morris County.  The successful candidate will have: 

  • excellent communication skills

  • excellent organizational skills

  • outstanding interpersonal skills

  • the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion

  • the ability to multi-task

  • at least 5 years of prior experience in a school or central district office

  • proficiency in data systems

  • exceptional technological proficiencies

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • provide administrative support to the Superintendent/Principal in all endeavors and responsibilities

  • organize the personnel function of the district (write and place ads, schedule interviews, on board new hires, keep personnel filing system, keep attendance records, input personnel data into Staff Information System (experience with SchoolFi/Genesis a plus)

  • interview and hire substitute teacher/nurse personnel; schedule coverage as needed (all elements of substitute system)

  • prepare and submit seasonal data reports for NJ DOE (NJSmart and Homeroom experience a plus)

  • function as District Webmaster (experience with Thrillshare a plus)

  • support district public relations through website, Facebook, Instagram and publicity releases to local media outlets

  • provides secretarial and clerical assistance to Board Committees; attend committee meetings when requested by the Superintendent; compile monthly BOE agenda

  • edit and disseminate district communications, i.e., handbooks, general email, etc.

  • function as site scheduler for school building including room and campus usage by staff members and outside groups

Preschool Teacher
2025-2026 School Year

The successful candidate will hold both P3 and special education certifications/ endorsements and have demonstrated team teaching skills.  ABA experience preferred.  The Preschool is an integrated classroom with both special needs and typical learners utilizing a multi-sensory approach to learning in a nuturing environment.

  • Minimum 3 years experience
