Grading:

For language arts, I will be using a points-based system.  Using this system encourages students to see that homework, classwork, quizzes, projects, tests, and written essays are equally important in providing an accurate picture of each student's ability and effort.

Since tests, projects, and written essays will always require more time than other assignments, these assessments will be worth double the amount of points.  As a result, an essay worth 100 points will be counted twice in my gradebook for a total of 200 points.

At times, homework will be graded using a check system:

1. Check plus plus = 100

2. Check plus = 90-95

3. Check = 80-85

4. Check minus = 70-75
