"As a parent in this community, I cannot say enough about the preschool program at RVS. My daughter will be graduating from the RVS preschool this year and will be entering kindergarten in the fall. The amount of knowledge and skills she has learned from this program is remarkable. She is identifying sight words, adding numbers together, and using both upper and lower case letters to create words beyond typical expectations. These are skills that are usually taught in kindergarten, so my daughter has already acquired skills that will help her be successful in the upcoming school years. The teacher is exceptional in meeting the various levels of learning so that all the children are challenged in ways that meet their needs. She has not only shown my daughter compassion and sensitivity, she has also taught my daughter how to be compassionate. I truly believe that my daughter is not only better prepared for kindergarten because of her experience in the RVS preschool, but better prepared for life. Please join us for a presentation to learn about the program and meet the teachers. Children are welcome to attend.
The program serves 3- and 4-year-old children. Special needs and typically developing preschoolers come together in an inclusive classroom where language, academic, and social skills are developed in a nurturing environment.
Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, days of attendance will be for 5-days only. (The school day is from 8:30am to 1:30pm). To qualify, a child must be 3 or 4 years old on or before October 1, 2024, but not 5 years old. A birth certificate with a raised seal must be presented when the application is submitted. Applications for the program are available at the Rockaway Valley Elementary School; 11 Valley Road in the main office and on our website.
