Mrs. Milos Classroom News

READING:
In 3rd grade, we have completed our novel, "The Mouse and the Motorcycle. " We are finishing up the novel by creating a new book cover and discussing how book covers evolve over the years and each time a new version is printed. In 4th grade, we began reading "Front Desk," which is about ten-year-old Mia Tang and her family who, after a couple of years struggling financially, are hired to manage a motel. We are making connections to real-life situations, using figurative language, and practicing summarizing.

WRITING:
In Writing, we are continuing with answering our "Would You Rather?" questions. These are to be completed at home in Google Classroom with specific due dates (see the homework tab for more information). In addition, we are learning about verbs and using sensory details and imagery in our writing.

MATH:
We have started Topic 5: Use Strategies and Properties to Divide by 1-Digit Numbers. In this topic, we will cover mental math to find quotients, estimate quotients, interpret remainders, division as sharing, using partial quotients to divide, and divide with 1-digit numbers. Homework will be given for most of the week. Please make sure all work is shown for full credit (unless otherwise noted).
